EMPTIES #2

Here are the products I’ve used up recently. I love watching other peoples empties videos to see what they thought of products once they’ve used them all up so I hope you find this interesting =)

Even though I am not supposed to be shopping for products, because I am A. trying to use up what I have & B. saving to get my sis to buy me things in the US, there are still some things that you just need! Right?!

WHAT’S ON MY FACE TODAY

Hello my lovely readers! While I was putting on my face this morning I got to thinking about how many products we actually use everyday and how quickly the list gets quite long so I thought I’d list what I did this morning for my day at work. Hope you find it somewhat interesting =)

1. BIODERMA Sebium solution - quick cleanse.

2. NUTRIMETICS Brightening Toner - preparing skin for the serum.

3. LANCOME Genefique serum - loving this stuff! Got a sample as a part of the Adore Beauty Serum Sampler pack. Full size is pretty pricey though but good.

4. NEUTROGENA Ultra Sheer sunscreen SPF 30+ - must. use. sun. protection. every. single. day!

5. LOREAL Derma Genesis Day Cream - love this moisturiser for the day. It’s not a primer but makes my skin feel very smooth and even which helps with makeup application.

6. GARNIER BB Cream (light) - applied with a Real Techniques buffing brush.

7. RIMMEL Match Perfection concealer/highlighter (10 - True Ivory) - under the eyes, apple of the chin and centre of the nose.

8. RIMMEL Stay Matte Pressed Powder - set my makeup

9. ESSENCE Sun Club Matte Bronzer (Light - Blondes) - cheeks, temple

10. NARS blush (Orgasm) - very lightly on the cheeks

11. ESSENCE eyeshadow (Cuppachino) - used as a highlighter with Real Techniques contour brush & all over lid

12. NAPOLEON PERDIS eyeshadow (Angel Baby quad) - add definition to the crease & lash line

13. RIMMEL Scandaleyes mascara - lots of lashes! Volume!

FINDATION.COM …. FINALLY!

Some very exciting news for those of us who like to shop online but find buying foundations that you haven’t yet tried very hard to work out what colour you are. This site will match other brands shades to the foundations that have through a search function. It’s call Findation (aha! very good) and you add 2 colours that you know you like/match you – brand, product & shade – and it will give you results based on that. AMAZING! Why didn’t someone think of this earlier! The lady who DID think of this however is Kate Morris who is also the lady behind one of my most loved Australian online stores - Adore Beauty.

HAUL - 20/07/12

I’ve been very restrained with purchases of late because I have far too many products in my “spare” cupboard (see pic above). It’s beyond a joke. Sure some of these things I’ve been given or were a part of “buy x amount and receive a bag full of goodies” etc or I have actually purchased because they were on special and were too much of a bargain to pass up but it really is getting out of control. Sooooo I’ve been only purchasing things that I REALLY want and don’t already have something in the same category waiting in the wings to be used. All of these products are ones that I have researched and know are going to be worth every penny!

MODIVA PROFESSIONAL CLIPLESS CURLING WAND

I’m hopeless at GHD curls & can’t be bothered to put in hours and hours of practise to learn. I get one good curl, then one bad so I decided to purchase a curling iron. The first one I got was a Remington clip curling 32mm and it was beyond terrible. It did absolutely NOTHING. Even with products, leaving it on my hair for longer than can be good for it etc it just would not curl my hair! After doing some research on YouTube and blogs (thank you blogging community) I settled on getting a MODIVA Professional Clipless Curling Iron 25mm (1inch). I purchased it from their website www.modiva.com.au . They sell 3 different sizes - 13mm,25mm & 32mm - all $89.95 each and also includes a heat glove so you don’t burn your fingers while using it. You can also purchase a Heat Protective Mat for $7.95 as well. I got the mat because it will be very handy for my straightener as well. The curling iron also doesn’t have any form of stand so you’ll need to rest it on something while you’re sorting out your next bit of hair. Express shipping is free in Australia. All irons also come with a 12mth warranty =)

BIODERMA Sebium H2O

I purchased 2 x 250mls bottles online from eBay – seller zandk-natural. It cost me around $30 total. 1 x 250ml bottle is $39.95 here in Australia at selected pharmacies so the price difference is HUGE!

ALPHA-H LIQUID GOLD – 100mls

This product is getting quite a name for itself in the beauty blogging community and by all accounts everyone is impressed. I purchased mine from Adore Beauty (www.adorebeauty.com.au) who had it on sale for around $48. Shipping is a flat fee of $5.95 for regular post and $9.95 for express. At the same time I purchased that I also fell victim to an impulse buy of the next item….

ADORE BEAUTY SERUM SAMPLER

This is a little sampler pack put together by Adore Beauty. It was $29 and I worked out the total value is $124.68 (geek). Also included is a 10% a full size of those products code. The samples included are:

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence 30ml

Lancôme Genifique Youth Activator 7ml

Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ 2.5ml

Alpha-H Liquid Gold Prep and Prime 10ml:

Subtle Energies Facial Blend 10ml

REAL TECHNIQUES BRUSHES

Even though you can now purchase Real Tech brushes here in Australia at Priceline it is still much cheaper to buy them online and get them sent over. I purchased mine from www.iherb.com . The brushes I got were:

Real Techinques Core Collection – includes 4 full size brushes: detailer brush, pointed foundation brush, buffing brush, contour brush & case (44.99 in Priceline | $17.99 on iherb)

Real Techinques Starter Set – includes 5 full size brushes: base shadow brush, deluxe crease brush, accent brush, pixel-point eyeliner brush, brow brush & case (39.99 in Priceline | $17.99 on iherb)

Real Techinques Blush Brush - (22.99 in Priceline | $8.99 on iherb)

DIY EYEBROW TINT!
If you are naturally fair haired like I am you will know that nearly non-existent natural eyebrows are less than ideal. I used to get my eyebrows tinted at a salon but they needed to be done approx every two weeks and it was just getting too expensive and time consuming. Of course I could fill them in with a brow powder or pencil which I still do but it’s always nice to have something to work with.

At first I was VERY scared to attempt a DIY job of my eyebrows – what if they go a weird colour, fall out etc. But then I thought I’ve never heard of that happening and if I just follow the instructions I should be fine. I will say it took me a few goes to be convinced that a disaster was not going to occur but I’ve been doing this for about 3 years now without a problem. The brand I have been using in the 1000Hour Eyelash & Eyebrow Dye Kit in Black/Brown which I usually get from Priceline, RRP $18.99, which is around the same a one salon job. As you can probably tell from the pictures above I would say the colour is more straight brown than brown/black. The other colours in the range are – Charcoal, Natural Black, Blue/Black and Dark Brown.

The process is really simple, you squeeze about 2cms worth of the colour out of the tube, add 10 drops from the little bottle, mix and apply. I don’t like the little stick that comes with it to apply the dye so I usually use a cotton tip. It says to leave it on for 10-15mins but I’ve found that for me around 20mins is fine.  After 20mins I just wipe it off with a wet tissue or cotton round and I’m done!

It last about the same time as the salon ones & I have the convenience of doing at home when I want. One of the presenters at work did tell me not long ago that mens moustache dye works really well and is much cheaper plus there is a larger range of colours. Might give that a go once I run out of the 1000Hours.

P.S - Please excuse the lack of mascara! But that should give you an idea of just how fair my eyelashes and eyebrows are naturally.
